- Why 1MB specifically?
- It's a common upload cap on portals, online forms, and some file-storage integrations that are stricter than typical email limits but more forgiving than the 100KB caps some ID/document uploaders use.
- Will this definitely get my file under 1MB?
- It will if there's enough recompressible image content — this tool automatically searches for the highest JPEG quality that still fits under 1MB. A mostly-text PDF, or one with little embedded image data, may not have much room to shrink, and the result tells you honestly if the target wasn't reached.
- What actually gets compressed?
- JPEG images embedded in the PDF are recompressed at a lower quality. Text, fonts, and vector graphics are untouched — this is about shrinking photos and scans, not altering the document's content.
- Are my files uploaded anywhere?
- No. Compression happens entirely in your browser in a background thread; your file never leaves your device.
